Review #8 – Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond

Review #8 – Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond

Review #: 8
Description: Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond (White Label)
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: Breaking into bourbon with common, budget label, Heaven Hill’s Evan Williams Brand can be found in nearly every liquor store. The White Label pronounces the bottled-in-bond productions, meaning it is at least 4 years old, distilled in the same season, aged in a bonded warehouse, and bottled at 50%. At about $15 a bottle, lets see how this budget option fares.

Distillery – Heaven Hill

Bottler – Heaven Hill

Brand – Evan Williams

Selection – N/A

ABV – 50%

Age – NAS

Nose –  Oak, cherry, some ethanol, fig
Taste – Sweet vanilla, toasted marshmallow, caramel rolling over the tongue
Finish – Light oak with a slight heat that burns just a bit, charcoal

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts: This is really nice in a classic bourbon way. A touch on the sweet side, but a good range of fruit, caramel, and oak. Considering this is available everywhere for $15 a bottle (or around $25 for a handle) this is such an excellent value bourbon. This will probably have a spot as my house bourbon.
