Review #312 – Winchester Rye Whiskey

Review #312 – Winchester Rye Whiskey

Review #: 312
Description: Winchester Rye Whiskey
Spirit: Rye

Background: Unlike the bourbon, Winchester Rye is made by TERREPure in SC, and aged for 6 months before reaching their level of perfection…

Distillery – TerrePure

Bottler – TerrePure

Brand – Winchester

Selection – N/A

ABV – 45%

Age – <1 Year

Nose – Black pepper, orange, horseradish, bitter chocolate, at least the rye character comes through
Taste – Brown sugar, water.  Almost nothing else.  Just light sweetness and thin
Finish – Metallic, black pepper, almost like an agave type of minerality but not in a good way, menthol

Score: 1
Would I buy a bottle? No, nope, never, not even an airplane bottle

Thoughts: At least some of the rye came in on the nose, but the taste had nearly nothing to it and was very thin.  Then the finish was downright gross.  Nothing fit together and made me nearly hurl.  So, so, so bad
