I’m surprised to not see more craft distillers using craft beer, but maybe I’ll find out that it’s not that good, but as a huge stout lover, I’m interested to see how this works out. Let’s dive in.

Thoughts: This certainly was interesting. I think it hit the mark on the taste that I would expect. Sweet chocolate and some fruit balanced in, but the finish is just so dry and bitter. I’m guessing that the micro barrels are what contribute to that. I’d honestly be interesting in trying the new make of this. There’s probably something a good bartender could use this for to bring out the chocolate and hide the heat, and that could be how craft whiskey and beer carve out a market together. If it were me, I’d probably stick this in a peated scotch barrel for a while, but maybe that’s also why I don’t own a distillery.
