Description: Eagle Rare Bourbon Whiskey
Spirit: Bourbon
Background: Another offering from Buffalo Trace. This bourbon comes from their Mashbill #1. Similar to regular Buffalo Trace, but Eagle Rare carries a 10 Year age statement. It used to be a single barrel, but no longer is. The rumor I heard is that it is essential still a single barrel, but the remnants of a barrel would be mixed with the fresh dumping of a new barrel depending on bottle yield. No confirmation but people seem to find a variance among these bottles so lets see what mine is like.
Distillery – Buffalo Trace
Bottler – Buffalo Trace
Brand – Eagle Rare
Selection – N/A
ABV – 45%
Age – 10 Years Old
Nose – Pleasant oakiness, corn, brown sugar

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: I quite enjoyed this. Some classic BT cherry along with strong bourbon qualities. For me, the extra age add a layer of complexity that the standard Buffalo Trace labels lacks. It’s a great way to experience an older bourbon for a reasonable cost. MSRP is around $35 and some places you can find it for around $25. For those, I think it is definitely worth it. I wouldn’t pay a premium for it though.
