Review #32 – Raleigh Rum Company Spiced Rum

Review #32 – Raleigh Rum Company Spiced Rum

Review #: 32
Description: Raleigh Rum Company Spiced Rum
Spirit: Rum

Background: Building off of the Silver Rum from Raleigh Rum Company, the spiced rum takes that same rum but further ages it slightly with some american oak barrels, and steeps spices in it. Let’s see if it improves it or not.

Distillery – Raleigh Rum Company

Bottler – Raleigh Rum Company

Brand – Spiced Rum

Selection – N/A

ABV – 41%

Age – NAS

Nose – Apple cider, vanilla, ethanol
Taste – Vanilla, burnt caramel, woody
Finish – Baking spices turn sour and hot with a rough finish

Score: 3
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: Unfortunately, I don’t feel like the extra process to spice the rum did it any favors. The positive aspects of the Silver Rum were washed away by the spices that ultimately were unbalanced. I mostly used this for mixed drinks, but even for that, it’s not worth the craft tax or to support local places.
