Description: L’Encantada Domaine Lous Pibous 1995 “Hail Yak” Bas-Armagnac

Background: This expression is actually the second “Hail Yak” Armagnac pick from the Aficionados discord server. Distilled by Lous Pibous and bottled by L’Encantada at cask strength with no additives, this will be my first dip into the world of brandy. For my wallet’s sake, let hope I don’t like it.

Nose – Earthy fruit: figs, dates, ripe grape. Some ethanol sting comes in accompanied by leather and dry wood
Taste – Light but sweet grape, vanilla, some nuttiness, thick caramel coats the tongue
Finish – Black pepper, tannins that just stay on the right side of overpowering, a touch of ash
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? I absolutely would have, if it hadn’t already sold out
Thoughts: My first brandy review and looks like I’m starting out on a good note. The nose here was really enticing and the flavor backed it up. I almost tinkered on being a little bit unbalanced with the sweetness and the oak but stayed in line for a delightful pour. I really am bummed I missed out on trying Hail Yak 1 and more bummed I missed out on a bottle of this one.
