Description: Longueteau 62
Spirit: Agricole
Background: This is an unaged, high proof, agricole rum distilled from cane juice in Guadeloupe by Longueteau. My sample was courtesy of a friend and was tasted blind, with the spirit revealed after giving my notes, so keep that in mind while reading.
Distillery – Longueteau
Bottler – Longueteau
Brand – Longueteau
Selection – N/A
ABV – 62%
Age – Unaged
Nose – Woah is this funky, almond, vanilla, like someone made a fruit smoothie using yogurt, but the yogurt had expired, guava, mango, a little bit grassy
Taste – Creamy (like lactose creamy), cream cheese frosting, funky, vanilla milkshake, artificial banana extract
Finish – Some lemon comes in, overripe pineapple, lingering heat that brings with it some tartness
Score: 7
Guess: ~55% jamaican overproof of some sort? I wanted to say Rum Fire but not confident with that
Would I buy a bottle? Yes (and I did)
Thoughts: Woah, this was weird. This is my first agricole I have tried so I wasn’t quite prepared for what I was getting into. There were a lot of notes in the nose but the sour milk thing was a little off putting, but the taste and mouthfeel pulled me back in along with the nice finish. While not available in the U.S., the low cost makes it a good choice even when ordering internationally.
