Review #122 – Blackadder Red Snake Cask #50

Review #122 – Blackadder Red Snake Cask #50

Review #: 122
Description: Blackadder Red Snake Cask #50
Spirit: Scotch

Background: Similar to the Red Snake Cask #49, this comes from Blackadder but with little information with it. All I know is that it comes from a first fill bourbon cask and is unfiltered. No idea on age or distillery. So let’s see what it tastes like.

Distillery – Undisclosed

Bottler – Blackadder

Brand – Blackadder

Selection – N/A

ABV – 59.8%

Age – NAS

Nose – Strong vanilla, ripe stone fruit, guava, mango, sweet cream, aggressive ethanol
Taste – Vanilla frosting, sweet cream, honey, maraschino cherry
Finish – Sugary cereal and malt, long lingering heat

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: The malt is bright and sweet and the fruit is nice with it, but man, the ethanol is just a bit overpowering at each stage.  It especially kills the finish with heat.
