Review #: 134
Description: Vago Jarquin Espadin
Spirit: Mezcal

Background: Today we have a mezcal distilled by Emigdio Jarquín Ramirez from shredded espadin maguey in a refrescador and bottled by Mezcal Vago. Let’s jump in

Distillery – Emigdio Jarquín Ramirez

Bottler – Mezcal Vago

Brand – Mezcal Vago

Selection – N/A

ABV – 49.9%

Age – Unaged

Nose – Sharp but clean agave, vegetal, mineral, slight cream cheese, white pepper
Taste – Sweet cream, fresh veggies like bell pepper and cucumber
Finish – Brine, vegetal, flintstones vitamins, black pepper

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: This was well executed.  The flavors were sharp and crisp and tasty, but it didn’t feel like anything elevated it up beyond average.  Still enjoyable and definitely finding that there is a wide range of flavors in Mezcal and that brine and vegetalness is something I’m looking forward to getting more into it.
