Background: Pursuit Series is the Single Barrel brand created from Bourbon Pursuit Podcast creators, Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil, with each release being a new “episode.” Episode 025 is a 4 year old bourbon distilled by Finger Lakes Distilling, a craft distillery in Upstate New York, and bottled at cask strength without filtration.

Nose – Milk chocolate, maraschino cherries, candy corn, sour patch kids, bubble gum
Taste – Heavy caramel, a little bit of cherry and raspberry in the background but are a bit muted by the sweetness of the caramel, some vanilla as well
Finish – Light oak comes in, cinnamon, clove, salted caramel, short/medium length.

Would I buy a bottle? Possibly (can’t quite remember the bottle cost. I think maybe about $50)
Thoughts: I enjoyed this sip, especially with how vivid the notes I got off of it were. It’s a little disjointed though, and would have liked a bit more complexity on the palate and finish, as the caramel sweetness just dominated. But for a craft distillery, this was pretty impressive and I will certainly keep my eyes on them moving forward.
