Background: Every year, Diageo releases a line of “Distiller’s Editions” from their Scotch distilleries. This one comes from Lagavulin and was distilled in 2003 and finished in PX Sherry casks before bottling for 2019. This was provided semi blind (it was labeled “Scotchy Scotch Scotch”) and contents were revealed after sending over my tasting notes.

Thoughts:
This was tasty and the nose had me drawn in really well. Lots of sweet fruit and cream. The danish note is new to me but definitely like buttery pastry with fruit in this one. The finish had a little bit of that sulphur note that makes me lean sherry. Post Reveal: Man, I wavered back and forth on whether this was peated for not. The PX must have really taken it away. Not like any peated Islay I’ve had, but it was pretty tasty. At this price point, I’d probably still take the 12 year cask strength though.
