Review #184 – Signatory Vintage Ledaig 2007

Review #: 184
Description: Signatory Vintage Ledaig 2007
Spirit: Scotch

Background: Another bottling from Signatory Vintage, this time from Tobermory’s peated line Ledaig. It was distilled in 2007 and aged in a refill sherry cask for 12 years before bottling at cask strength.

Distillery – Tobermory

Bottler – Signatory Vintage

Brand – Signatory Vintage

Selection – N/A

ABV – 59.8%

Age – 12 Years

Nose – Charred hot peppers, black pepper, peach rings, honey, dried flowers, fudge
Taste – Light feel, honey, floral, subtle dried fruit, light vanilla, cherry and cream
Finish – Big hit of brine, pepper, ash, some roasted nuts, very dry and tannic

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: This started off with a fantastic and complex nose, but kind of went downhill from there.  The taste felt relatively simplistic and then the finish was a bit brash.  A big turn of flavor and almost sour with the tannins and drying taste.  Just not my favorite.
