Review #201 – Banhez Mexicano

Review #201 – Banhez Mexicano

Review #: 201
Description: Banhez Mexicano
Spirit: Mezcal

Background: This is from the Banhez line of Mezcal. This one was distilled from maguey mexicano by Luis Pacheco in a copper still. Let’s jump right in

Distillery – Luis Pacheco

Bottler – Banhez

Brand – Banhez

Selection – N/A

ABV – 47%

Age – Unaged

Nose – Fresh veggies, lemon pepper marinade sauce, light cheddar cheese, popcorn, light berry sweetness in the background
Taste – Creamy, a little lemon.  Taste is less defined than the nose.  Kind of a general savory flavor that dominates
Finish – Briney, vegetal – funky seaweed, peppery, salty, touch of smokiness.

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: The nose on this really had some promise but I struggled to really define too many flavors on the palate and the finish, which was fine, just doesn’t quite align with my preferences.
