Nose – Almost rum like with some tropical fruits like banana, honey syrup, honey nut cheerios, juniper, tart citrus, some malty-nuttiness. This is changing every time I stick my nose in. Got some cucumber even? Like a light, watery vegetable/fruit. Another whiff and I get some sourdough.
Taste – Honey, sweet cream, honey nut cheerios, cinnamon syrup, dark fruits (not very sweet but tastes like raspberries and cherries)
Finish – Cinnamon, toasted malt, toasted nuts, little bit of dark cherry and banana, little bit of red wine is left in the back of the throat, slightest hint of salt/sulfur
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? It’s right in a tough price point, so I’m going to take the easy way and say no since it’s not available anymore
Thoughts: This was a real weird pour. I’ve never had such a dynamic nose and finish, especially with how more one dimensional the palate felt. Every nosing brought a new note, and after every sip, a new layer of the finish showed itself. At just over $100 though, I think I would be happy with a bottle and probably find something new at every pour.
