Review #309 – Cask & Crew Rye Whiskey

Review #309 – Cask & Crew Rye Whiskey

Review #: 309
Description: Cask & Crew Rye Whiskey
Spirit: Rye

Background: Continuing the bottom shelf blowout, Cask & Crew is an interesting blend of 51% 3 year old Canadian Rye whiskey and 49% Kentucky Corn Whiskey.  Bottled by LiDestri Beverages in Rochester, NY, I have no idea what this will be like. I’m not even sure if I should really consider this rye or blended whiskey.

Distillery – Various

Bottler – LiDestri Beverages

Brand – Cask & Crew

Selection – N/A

ABV – 40%

Age – 3 Years

Nose – Burnt matchstick, rotten orange, musty corn.  Pretty grain forward and not in a good way
Taste – Thin and watery, wet cardboard, sour orange juice, sugar free caramel
Finish – Bitter chocolate, cardboard, gasoline.  The heat is gone quickly but the taste unfortunately lingers.  It’s like grilling corn with its husk on, burning the husk, and biting into it before removing it.

Score: 1
Would I buy a bottle? Never

Thoughts: Just nothing good about this.  Avoid at all costs.
