Review #342 – George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel: Mission Liquors

Review #342 – George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel: Mission Liquors

Review #: 342
Description: George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel: Mission Liquors
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: After the OB, now we have a Single Barrel selection by Mission Liquors in California.  Again, I’ve heard accounts of these being “Barrel Proof” but I have also heard the opposite, so I’m not going to make a statement either way.  This one comes in bottled at 42.2% ABV so definitely on the lower end of things.

Distillery – Cascade Hollow

Bottler – Cascade Hollow

Brand – George Dickel

Selection – Mission Liquors

ABV – 42.2%

Age – 15 Years

Nose – Like the Milam and Greene versus the OB at 13 years, this is definitely richer and creamier; butterscotch, sweet caramel, grape jelly, touch of oak that surrounds the other notes
Taste – Vanilla, butterscotch, cherry, slight burnt caramel, cream soda
Finish –  A touch bitter with more of the oak coming in, light pepper and heat, tart cherry

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Yes, value still there and better than the generic single barrel

Thoughts:  This was definitely an improvement.  Richer and more balanced, the age was still there but balanced with more butteriness from the distillate.  Just felt a tad weak though at the 42%.
