Review #343 – George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel: K&L Wines

Review #: 343
Description: George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel: K&L Wines
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: Coming off the heels of Mission Liquors pick, this is another 15 years single barrel of Dickel bourbon this time selected by the famous K&L Wines out of California.  The bottling comes in at a more robust 50.6% ABV so let’s see how it stacks up.

Distillery – Cascade Hollow

Bottler – Cascade Hollow

Brand – George Dickel

Selection – K&L Wines

ABV – 50.6%

Age – 15 Years

Nose – Butterscotch, peanut brittle, cream soda, cherry cola, shortbread, pleasant oak, bubble gum
Taste – Vanilla ice cream, peanut brittle, caramel, a touch of bubble gum in a bright fruity way (rather than overly sweet or artificial)
Finish –  Roasted peanuts, toasted oak, cloves, used matchstick

Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts: This was easily the best of the 3.  Well rounded and the oak integrated with nice depth and viscosity.  It brings in some of the nuttiness that I liked with the 13 year BiB but with a bit more of the oaky back bone to elevate it to a higher level
