Review #381 – Clairin Ansyen Casimir #CA16FF: Aficionados/Seelbach’s Selection

Review #: 381
Description: Clairin Ansyen Casimir #CA16FF: Aficionados/Seelbach’s Selection
Spirit: Rum

Background: This is a single cask selection made by Aficionados group and Drink Seelbach’s.  Distilled at the Douglas Casimir distillery in Hati using sugar cane juice, it was then aged for 41 Months in ex-Cognac casks and then bottled at cask strength of 52.7% ABV. I previously really enjoyed the other Ansyen Casimir so I have high hopes for this one.

Distillery – Douglas Casimir

Bottler – La Maison Du Whisky

Brand – Clairin

Selection – Aficionados/Seelbach’s

ABV – 52.7%

Age – 3 Years 5 Months

Nose – A little bit of industrial rubber, baked apples, ginger snap cookie, papaya
Taste – Caramel apple, vanilla, sweet ginger, molasses
Finish – Funk kicks up, creme brulee, banana custard, spicy ginger, melted plastic, toasted pastries.  Long and complex.

Score: 8
Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts:  Oh yeah, this is my jam.  Sweet, savory, funky; it’s all there and all works great.  An excellent selection.
