Description: Jean-Luc Pasquet Lot 75 Aficionados x Fine Drams
Spirit: Cognac
Background: Selected alongside the Lot 70, this has a little less age, but still a lot of time in oak and a slight bump up in proof. This comes from the village of Saint-Preuil in the Grand Champagne region and again bottled by JLP. Let’s see how it stacks up with the rest of the herd.
Distillery – Saint-Preuil
Bottler – Jean-Luc Pasquet
Brand – Jean-Luc Pasquet
Selection – Aficionados/FineDrams
ABV – 54.2%
Age – 47 Years
Nose – Very rich: dark chocolate, raisins, toasted marshmallow, stewed plums, dark cherries, red grapes
Taste – Cherry syrup, dark grape, sweet oak, super rich with a very thick and chewy mouthfeel
Finish – Grape actually pops a bit brighter and fruitier but still with some dark fruits in the background, lots of oak but not very drying, pepper and embers linger
Score: 8
Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: Super tasty. One of the best mouthfeels on a spirit I’ve had in a while. My only knocks are that the taste and finish are a bit straightforward but even some narrow sounding notes, there are depths of flavors within them. An excellent brandy.
