Description: Wilderness Trail Single Barrel Rye: r/Bourbon 17D20-1
Spirit: Bourbon
Background: Wilderness Trail may be a “craft” distiller with most of their products coming out in the last few years or so, but they have been pumping out massive amounts of contract distillations and has resulted in Campari purchasing 70% of the company. Their sweet mash product sets them apart from most others as it makes it a bit more difficult to maintain consistency, but they are pulling it off. They also use a very low entry proof. This is a single barrel of rye selected by r/Bourbon. It was aged for 4 years and 2 months with a #4 char and using their FermPro 1 yeast strain.

Thoughts: Back to back with the Pursuit rye, this is a bit darker and a bit harder to dissect. Oak and rye are a bit more dominant but the fruit is nice with it. A little more dynamic but still tasty and a great showing for their barrel program and looking forward to how it develops over the years
