Description: Black Pearl Silver Rum
Spirit: Rum
Background: This rum comes from Seven Three Distilling in Carrollton, LA. It says that it uses local sugarcane which lends me to believe that it actually uses cane juice for the distillation.
Distillery – Seven Three Distilling
Bottler – Seven Three Distilling
Brand – Black Pear
Selection – N/A
ABV – 42.5%
Age – Unaged
Nose – Coffee, jelly beans, brownie batter, dark dried fruit, light grassiness
Taste – Chocolate covered cherries, sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, fruit candy (more jelly beans), slight tingle of alcohol
Finish – More roasted notes with chocolate and coffee, a bit earthy, still some red fruits coming in, little molasses
Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? For $34, I think so
Thoughts: Surprisingly, a really fun pour. Still not sure whether cane juice or not, but it doesn’t matter. Has this great juicy fruit note throughout, complemented with roast-y and sweet aspects. A welcome amount of depth for the proof too. Well done.
