Review #483 – Eastern Kille Rogue Wave Series No. 2: Gin Finished Rum

Review #: 483
Description: Eastern Kille Rogue Wave Series No. 2: Gin Finished Rum
Spirit: Rum

Background: This comes from the Michigan distillery Eastern Kille.  I have a friend in the area who has shared some of their whiskies that have surprised me, so when he threw in this half bottle (with half gone), I was worried it wasn’t because he was eager to share.  I don’t have much information.  I know they make a silver rum using Louisiana turbinado sugar and also age gin in bourbon barrels, so I am guessing this is the combo of the two.  This celebrates their 3rd anniversary and was bottled in April of 2019.

Distillery – Eastern Kille
Bottler – Eastern Kille

Brand – Eastern Kille

Selection – N/A

ABV – 46.5%

Age – NAS

Nose – Orange oil, yeast, kerosene, vanilla extract, dry hay, pine sol
Taste – Vanilla cream that’s sat out a bit too long, simple syrup, dirt, tree sap
Finish – Expired milk, burnt sugar, bitter and metallic sticks far too long

Score: 2
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: Yep, I see why he sent it to me. Why there are dairy notes in there, I don’t know, but I wish there wasn’t.
