Description: Dancing Goat Limousin Rye: r/Bourbon #6798 “Brandy Finish”
Spirit: Rye
Background: 30 for 30: Day 17. Following the heavy toast finish, this one was finished in American Brandy casks with no further information. So no indication of what fruit the brandy was made from. A little younger at 6 years and 7 months but that’s still solid age and still a great value.
Distillery – MGP
Bottler – Dancing Goat
Brand – Dancing Goat
Selection – r/Bourbon
ABV – 55.9%
Age – 6 Years
Nose – There’s a lot of rich butter pastry here, milk chocolate, apple jacks cereal, bran flakes, peach rings
Taste – Milk chocolate, caramel apple, apple cider, cinnamon bread, kettle corn
Finish – Cooked apples, rye spice, allspice and nutmeg, chocolate turns from milk to dark, it’s almost a sweet spice that lingers
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: If I had to guess, I would think this was an apple brandy cask finish. The spice works so well with it. There was something familiar about it that I couldn’t get fully confident in the notes, but I think it’s that apple jacks cereal note. A little sweet, a little fruity, and a little cinnamon-y. Really enjoyable and again, a great value for $60.
