Review #33 – J.W. Dant Bottled-In-Bond

Review #33 – J.W. Dant Bottled-In-Bond

Review #: 33
Description: J.W. Dant Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: J.W. Dant, a product under the Heaven Hill portfolio, follows with their line of budget Bottled-In-Bond brands purchased in 1993. J.W. Dant was know for using a wooden still made out of a log. No longer the case, let’s see how the brand stands up at such a low price point.

Distillery – Heaven Hill

Bottler – Heaven Hill

Brand – J.W. Dant

Selection – N/A

ABV – 50%

Age – NAS

Nose – Vanilla, cornbread.  After a sip I get some peanut brittle as well
Taste – Cinnamon toast crunch, roasted peanuts, salted caramel
Finish – More toasted nuts, cinnamon.  The flavor intensity is short but the heat lingers lightly for a while

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts: This just hit all my boxes for everything I could as for in a budget bourbon. While not a wide range of notes, it excelled in what was there. For $15, I don’t think I have ever had a better value in a bottle. This easily would be my house bourbon.
