Description: El Dorado Skeldon 2000
Spirit: Rum
Background: El Dorado Skeldon is demerara rum distilled to try and replicate the SWR marque from the Skeldon distillery that closed in 1960. The rum was distilled in 2000 and aged in Guyana before being bottled in 2018 at cask strength. Hydrometer tests appear to show that it does not have additives and it is un-chillfiltered, unlike most of the El Dorado line. So let’s see how it tastes.

Would I buy a bottle? No, but only because price is rather high
Thoughts: This is really tasty. The age and proof offer a whole lot of complexity. I tried this twice and glad I came back. At first it was nice, but felt a little one-dimensional. Coming back opened up a bit more of the fruit on the nose and the tobacco on the finish was undeniable. Tasted like I just smoked some hookah. While it is really good, I don’t think I’d be dropping the money to get a whole bottle.
