Description: Teeling 12 Year Old 2004 Sherry Cask
Spirit: Irish Whiskey
Background: Teeling Distillery has it’s roots in Dublin dating back to Walter Teeling opening a distillery back in 1782. The Teeling distillery was eventually purchased by the Jameson family before closing in 1923, like many Irish distilleries at the time. The new distillery was established by Jack and Stephen Teeling in 2015 as the first new distillery to open in Dublin in 125 years. John and Stephen worked at the distillery their father, John Teeling, established as the Cooley distillery. It is believed that many of these single casks were sourced from Cooley. The Teeling symbol is a phoenix rising from a pot still to symbolize the resurgence of the Teeling brand. This single cask was distilled in 2004 and aged 12 years in a sherry cask.

Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: This was a baked dessert of a drink through and through. It’s light and delicate, yet the flavors come through strong. This is delicious and shows how solid Irish whiskies can be when they have the proof there to back them up. I believe this was available for around $80 a bottle and I think right there it’s worth it. Definitely will keep my eye out for more Teeling single casks offerings.
