Review #172 – Cinco Sentidos Espadin Capon 01-19

Review #: 172
Description: Cinco Sentidos Espadin Capon 01-19
Spirit: Mezcal

Background: Bottled by Cinco Sentidos, this was distilled by Alberto Martinez from espadin capon that was hand milled with wooden mallets and fermented with wild yeast and tepehuaje tree bark before distilling in a clay still. So a lot of interesting stuff going on with this spirit. Let’s see how it tastes.

Reviews 170 – 174 were done as part of a virtual “Mezcal 101” class to offer a decent range of options and styles for decently affordable and available bottles.

Would I buy a bottle?  Yes

Thoughts: This was like a fruit smoothie with a little savory tang to it and then the finish had some sweet cinnamon and light smoke and refreshing drying to it.  I really enjoyed it and wanted more.
