Description: Copper & Kings Cr&ftwerks Jack’s Abby Baby Maker
Spirit: Brandy
Background: Copper and Kings Craftwerks series takes their brandy and finishes it in a barrel from a craft distillery. This one was aged in a barrel of Baby Maker Lager Wine (which previously held bourbon and then another of their beer) from Jack’s Abby Brewery in Framingham, MA. I wish I had had some Baby Maker before to see how it imparts flavor on the barrel that was already used twice before, but let’s jump in and taste it anyway.
Distillery – Copper & Kings
Bottler – Copper & Kings
Brand – Copper & Kings
Selection – N/A
ABV – 54%
Age – NAS
Nose – Strawberry jelly, vanilla, blueberry. This thing is bonkers fruity, with just a touch of pleasant oak.
Taste – Vanilla, balanced between dry and sweet grape with maybe a slight lean towards sweet, light cream
Finish – More oak and light tannins come in, grape turn a bit sour, a tad hot
Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No
Thoughts: This was perfectly fine. I absolutely loved the nose on it, but it was the finish that really kept it grounded. Really wish I had the beer beside it to try too. I do love C&K working with craft breweries across the country. Always a good thing to see.
