Review #132 – Tom’s Town Gin

Review #132 – Tom’s Town Gin

Review #: 132
Description: Tom’s Town Gin
Spirit: Gin

Background: This is a botanical gin made by Tom’s Town Distilling in Kansas City, MO.  They distill downtown in Tom Pendergast’s old office building.  Pendergast essentially ran Kansas City during prohibition, as he basically owned not only all the speakeasies but also the police (to my understanding).  Tom’s Town embraces this kind of Great Gatsby vibe with their marketing and bar front.  They make gin and source/produce some whiskey, but let’s see how the gin fares.

Distillery – Tom’s Town

Bottler – Tom’s Town

Brand – Tom’s Town

Selection – N/A

ABV – 45%

Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts: So I have a little bit of nostalgia/bias with this bottle as this was the first gin that I actually liked immediately.  I was in KC for work and decided to visit the distillery and brought some co-workers with me.  The history they cover in the tour was very interesting and added a cool atmosphere to their company.  When we tasted the gin, my coworkers and I looked at each other in amazement as none of us would have said we liked gin, but found this delicious.  The botanicals come through nicely, the mouthfeel is creamy, and the juniper is well balanced.  It’s an added bonus that the bottle design is one of my favorites too.
