Review #149 – Ultimatum Fiji 2004

Review #: 149
Description: Ultimatum Fiji 2004
Spirit: Rum

Background: Here we have a rum bottling from The Ultimate Whisky company under their Ultimatum line. Aged for 12 years and bottled without chillfitration nor coloring but at 46% ABV. This comes from a “secret distillery” however Fiji only has one operational distillery so…

Distillery – South Pacific

Bottler – The Ultimate Whisky Company

Brand – Ultimatum

Selection – N/A

ABV – 46%

Age – 12 Years

Nose –  Caramel, vanilla, light oak, honey, light fruits: pear, green apple, light floral notes too
Taste – Caramel, molasses, un-ripe stone fruits (not sweet but not tart), milk chocolate
Finish – Burnt caramel, dark chocolate, oak comes in and the tannis linger

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Probably not only because of other options, but I think it’s a decent value.

Thoughts: This was quite enjoyable, although the sweetness of it overcame the fruity notes a little too much.  I wish the fruit would punch through a little more.  But otherwise it was enjoyable and a good value under $50 for a Fijian rum.
