Review #: 174
Description: Mezcal Vago Elote March 2020
Spirit: Mezcal

Reviews 170 – 174 were done as part of a virtual “Mezcal 101” class to offer a decent range of options and styles for decently affordable and available bottles.

Distillery – Aquilino Garcia Lopez

Bottler – Mezcal Vago

Brand – Mezcal Vago

Selection – N/A

ABV – 50.3%

Age – Unaged

Nose – Roasted peppers, melted butter, lime, tajin seasoning
Taste – Sweet corn, cream, cumin, warm spices, tart citrus
Finish – Brine, vegetal, hot peppers, a bit too hot on the ethanol side

Score: 4
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: This was interesting and the corn used in the distillation process definitely comes through, with spices and lime.  The finish turns a bit too hot for my liking and takes away from the whole experience.
