Description: Privateer Tiki Gin
Spirit: Gin
Background: Today we have Privateer’s Tiki Gin. Known for their rum, this gin is made specifically to cater to tiki cocktails. Distilled from molasses, this rum is double distilled, steeped with spices, herbs, and citrus before a 3rd distillation and then rested in a steel tank for 3 months before bottling. I’ve been a fan of their rum, so let’s see how their gin stands up. This is batch #6.

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: Kind of a lower score to say I’d definitely want a bottle, but this is an interesting one. I probably drink 90-95% of my gin in cocktails, with some summer weather getting me in the mood for gin on the rocks. This neat, is a bit weird, and the finish is much dryer and warmer than I’d want when sipping. However, throw this in a cocktail, and everything makes sense. They made this gin specifically for tiki cocktails and that is exactly what they achieved. It’s fun to taste different gins and then explore how they work in different drinks. This one definitely deserves a spot in your bar if you want to go deeper into the tiki realm.
