Description: Dramfool Blair Athol 2010

Background: This is a bottling from Dramfool that is yet to be released. It was distilled at Blair Athol in 2010 and aged in an ex-bourbon barrel.
Reviews 259 – 264 were done as part of the Dramfool Spirit of Speyside tasting. This took place on Zoom, headed by Dramfool co-founder, Colin Fraser. There were about 15 active participants on the Zoom call giving notes and impressions while we tasted and the contents were revealed after some tasting and discussion. Notes are therefore a little brief.

Nose – Heavy and sweet malt, honeydew melon, lemon oil, honeycomb, sweet vanilla cream. Ethanol is pretty sharp
Taste – Thick honey and cream, sweet and bready malt, candied ginger, butterscotch, licorice, chocolate cake
Finish – Lots of candied ginger, lemon curd, floral yet spicy with black pepper and cinnamon

Would I buy a bottle? Yes (will be 50-55 GBP)
Thoughts: This was really bright and interesting on the nose and then super heavy and sweet on the palate. The finish is pretty sharp and hot, but still very tasty.
