Review #280 – Florida Cane Vodka Orlando Orange

Review #280 – Florida Cane Vodka Orlando Orange

Review #: 280
Description: Florida Cane Vodka Orlando Orange
Spirit: Vodka

Background: Vodka?! Who am I? Well, I’m trying to kill as many bottles and the completionist in me feels the need to review as much as I can so why not.  This is an orange flavored vodka from Florida that I picked up years ago back when I always tried to get something local.  It appears that they use oranges in the distillation process to do the flavoring, rather than anything fake on the back end, so that’s why I picked it up.  It hasn’t been touched in a few years and even before that was exclusively cocktails, so why not try it neat?

Distillery – Florida Cane

Bottler – Florida Cane

Brand – Florida Cane

Selection – N/A

ABV – 40%

Age – Unaged

Nose – Earthy orange, almost grassy.  There’s almost a cereal-like quality to it?  Some fake sugar sweetness too.
Taste – Ok, there has to be additives here.  Very syrupy and clawing sweetness.  It’s like if someone tried to make orange syrup, but used extract and made it 2:1 sugar to water.  Some stevia sweetener bitterness in the background too
Finish – Oh boy.  Super tacky, fake sugar sweetness.  Bitter orange.  Just clawing at my tongue with sugar and not even good sugar at that

Score: 1
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: This was more of an orange liqueur than a vodka, and not a good one.  They have to be dumping sugar into this thing.  It just tastes fake.  I swear this isn’t just vodka hate, just specific to this one.  Now to clean my palate with some scotch.
