Description: Chateau du Tariquet VS
Spirit: Armagnac
Background: This armagnac is produced by Chateau du Tariquet. It is composed of eau de vie from Ugni-blanc (60%) and Baco (40%) grapes. These grapes are grown on site in Gascony and then the spirit is aged for at least 3 years in French Oak. Let’s dive in.
Distillery – Chateau du Tariquet
Bottler – Chateau du Tariquet
Brand – Chateau du Tariquet
Selection – N/A
ABV – 40%
Age – NAS
Nose – Fruity sweetness, unripe strawberry, light cherry, sharp oak with almost a tinge of menthol and spearmint, but not much.
Taste – Light vanilla icing, apple, tiny bit of matchstick. Otherwise pretty simple
Finish – Oak comes in a little stronger with some bitterness and char, It works well with the sweetness from the taste
Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? For $30, probably as it would make a good house brandy for mixing or cooking and not feeling guilty.
Thoughts: This is definitely solid quality and there’s enough oak balance to keep it interesting with the simplicity of the sweetness and the thinness at 40%.
