Review #391 – D’aurensan 1990

Review #: 391
Description: D’aurensan 1990
Spirit: Armagnac

Background: This is a 30 year old Armagnac.  It was shared with me as a mystery pour with no label so I had no idea what it was.  I was even more confused when I saw the color of it in the glass.  It was revealed after I sent my thoughts

Distillery – D’aurensan

Bottler – D’aurensan

Brand – D’aurensan

Selection – N/A

ABV – 40.3%

Age – 30 Years

Nose – Coffee, raisin, plum, cola, sugar in the raw, s’more, cough syrup, old leather
Taste – A bit on the thin side, cherry cordial, Dr. Pepper, woody
Finish – Raisin, toasted oak, a bit metallic, cough syrup, peppery.  Fairly short

Guess:  Is this that 50 year Spanish Brandy? 42ish ABV?

Score: 4
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: First reaction seeing this, is that the color can’t be natural.  It’s not bad and has some fun layers of flavor, but the metallic, cough syrup lingers too long on the finish, and it’s pretty thin and fleeting.
