Description: Dewar’s White Label
Spirit: Scotch
Background: The long standing brand from John Dewar’s and Sons, I personally have felt like I associate this bottle as being one of those always available but cheap brands. Recently, they have embarked on a campaign of new releases with some interesting finishes while retaining a very affordable price. While I would like to try those releases, this is the standard, white label blended scotch. This is under the Bacardi portfolio.
Distillery – Various
Bottler – Dewar’s
Brand – Dewar’s
Selection – N/A
ABV – 40%
Age – NAS
Nose – Lemon candy, fresh grass, smoked cherries, cooked apple and pears, shortbread, melon. Peat seems most pronounced of the blends so far but works really nicely with the sweet and citrusy fruit.
Taste – Still quite sweet lemon, honey, tea, sweet melon
Finish – Black pepper, toasted peat, sea salt crackers, tiny bit of seaweed/sulfur
Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? I think so
Thoughts: I’m honestly surprised by this. It was more pronounced with the peat that some of the others I felt. Being a peat head, I see that as a positive so take that into account. I thought the fruit was pronounced and things were well balanced. Plenty worthy of sipping and now I’m pretty eager to try the other finishes they have put out recently.
