Background: This is a bottling of rum from the West Virginian distillery. The distillate itself is sourced from Jamaica from two distilleries (likely Appleton and Monymusk) that were made in 1990. Smooth Ambler finished them for a year in rye casks bringing the age up to 26 and 28 years from the different rums.

Taste – Ginger syrup, burnt caramel, melon, light honey
Finish – Spicy ginger, diesel fumes, rye spice, battery acid. Hot for not even being 50%

Would I buy a bottle? No
Thoughts: Not my cup of tea. I don’t get much distinctive rum flavor and characteristics until the end where it is overpowering with spice, exhaust, and acid. Drinks hot and it’s not a really good flavor to want sticking around.
