Description: Old Particular Craigellachie 15 Year
Spirit: Scotch
Background: This is a bottling of Douglas Laing Old Particular for K&L Wines. Distilled in 2006 by Craigellachie, it was aged in a sherry butt for 15 years before bottling at cask strength. Sherry and Craigellachie have done well for me in the past so let’s hope it keeps going.
Distillery – Craigellachie
Bottler – Douglas Laing
Brand – Old Particular
Selection – K&L Wines
ABV – 57.7%
Age – 15 Years
Nose – Mocha, dark cherry, roasted malt, fresh baked bread, tree nuts
Taste – Jammy and malty – fig, apple, toasted bread, maple syrup, blackberry
Finish – More toasted malt, grilled plum, prickle of black pepper and slight tartness
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Yes. This was only $90 at K&L
Thoughts: Keeping with the theme of sherried Craigellachie, rich and sweet and jammy and malty, it’s really tasty. And for the price, quite the deal. Fairly in line with the OB it’s hard to go wrong with either.
