Spirit: Scotch

Note: Reviews 43 – 46 and 50 – 53 were done as part of a series of semi-blind samples thanks to my Secret Santa. Please keep in mind that I did not know the specifics until after posting my notes. This was labeled “Clyne” so I had a fairly strong indication of what this might be.
Distillery – Clynelish
Bottler – La Maison Du Whisky
Brand – Old Artist Collection
Selection – N/A
ABV – 48%
Age – 20 Years
Nose – Waxy fruit like sour skittles, strong lemon with some sharp oak
Taste – Lemon zest, mild sweet malt, candied orange peel, mouthfeel is a bit thin
Finish – A bit of heat but dies quickly, light oak and spice, ripe stone fruit and malt
Guess – ~46% alcohol. With the name of “Clyne” I’m going to guess, is this the standard Clynelish 14?
Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No
Thoughts: Well, certainly holds a higher esteem than the standard Clynelish 14, but this was a little lacking in mouth feel and complexity. I’m not sure if this was diluted or not, but it needed a bit more punch behind it. This was my first Clynelish and I definitely understand the “waxy fruit” note that they are known for.
