Review #: 546
Description: Raising Glasses Kinnaree 2014 Thailand
Spirit: Rum
Background:
As per the last review, Kinnaree is the name for the half bird/half human stemming from some Asian cultures’ folklore. Kinnaree is the female version as this cask is supposed to be more delicate and floral compared to the Kinnara (next review) that more oak dominant. Like the blend, this was distilled from molasses in a column still and aged for 5 years in Thailand and an additional 4 in the UK. I am unsure if this is just similar stats or whether this was the cask used for the blend (I’m leaning no because of the proof). This bottle also benefits Thailand’s Love Foundation.
Full disclosure, this sample was provided to me by a friend with connections to Raising Glasses (not employed by them though). The samples were provided to get my honest feedback. My thoughts are my own.

Would I buy a bottle? $40 for a half bottle, I say yes
Thoughts: Definitely different from the blend. Interestingly they write this one up as the “delicate and floral” cask. I get some of those floral notes, but I think it’s pretty heavy and rich and that ginger note really strongly comes through.
