Review #71 – Gordon & MacPhail Glen Scotia 21 Year

Review #: 71
Description: Gordon & MacPhail Glen Scotia 21 Year
Spirit: Scotch

Background: Couldn’t find too much information on this one other than it is a 21 year old single malt from Glen Scotia, bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. This was provided by my friend /u/TheAgaveFairy and my notes were taken blind before revealing, so keep that in mind.

Distillery – Glen Scotia

Bottler – Gordon & MachPhail

Brand – The MacPhail’s Collection

Selection – N/A

ABV – 43%

Age – 21 Years

Nose –  Light malt and citrus, some melon? Decent amount of ethanol
Taste – Strawberry, cherry, almond, simple syrup
Finish – Slight vegetal, kale, cinnamon, black pepper, burnt toast

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: My first taste of a Campbeltown, and there were definitely some interesting notes in there that might be the funk I hear about.  This was pretty decent but a little jarring difference between the taste and the finish.  I’m excited to try some more offerings from C-town though.
