Review #78 – Eagle Rare: Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits Single Barrel

Review #78 – Eagle Rare: Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits Single Barrel

Review #: 78
Description: Eagle Rare: Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits Single Barrel
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: Another Eagle Rare review, check out my first one or my blind review for more general information on the brand. The basics, 10 Year mashbill #1 bourbon from Buffalo Trace. This was a single barrel selected by Bourbon Street Wine and Spirits in New Jersey. Let’s see if it’s any better than the standard offering.

Distillery – Buffalo Trace

Bottler – Buffalo Trace

Brand – Eagle Rare

Selection – Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits

ABV – 45%

Age – 10 Years

Nose – Cherry, tart apple, vanilla, clove, light floral notes
Taste – Lots of cherry, vanilla coke, caramel, pretty thin on the mouth though
Finish – Cherry still dominates, some cola, faint oak

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Yes, at retail.

Thoughts: This was clearly Buffalo Trace bourbon with the cherry and apple. Plenty enjoyable, if a bit thin, but not really anything beyond the standard bottling. I wouldn’t pay any sort of premium for it.
