Review #: 87
Description: Laphroaig 10 CS Batch 11
Spirit: Scotch
Background: This is Laphroaig 10 Year, but bottled without dilution. This is the 11th batch, released in March of 2019. Let’s see if the extra proof helps it out.
This review was done along with Octomore 8.2 and Ardbeg Uigeadail as a short “Islay” high proof series.
Distillery – Laphroaig
Bottler – Laphroaig
Brand – Laphroaig
Selection – N/A
ABV – 58.6%
Age – 10 Years
Nose – Really nutty, heavily toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, almost like a stout?, smoked pork
Taste – Salted caramel, boiled peanuts, lemon, black pepper
Finish – Smoked sea salt, long but tasty heat, black pepper, I get some like tropical fruit?, milk chocolate
Score: 8
Would I buy a bottle? Yes
Thoughts: Very different from the Octomore but still delicious. I get a lot of similar notes to the regular Frog 10 (though more nutty than chocolatey) but here it’s all cranked up to 11. This stuff is awesome. Apparently it’s difficult to get outside of the US besides for the distillery and that’s a bit of a shame because more peat lovers need to try this.
