Review #541 – Big Bottom Barrel Aged Gin

Review #: 541
Description: Big Bottom Barrel Aged Gin
Spirit: Gin

Background: Big Bottom is coming from Oregon and uses a 16 botanical base and a solera blend of Hungarian, Oregon, and American White oak for about a year of aging.

Distillery – Big Bottom

Bottler – Big Bottom

Brand – Big Bottom

Selection – N/A

ABV – 45.5%

Age – NAS

Nose – Sweet lemon candy, vanilla cake, gingerbread, touch of pine and lavender, juniper is well integrated
Taste – Lemon custard, lavender vanilla syrup, sweet oak.  Nice richness
Finish – Lemon becomes tart but there is still some nice sweet vanilla and a touch of oak.  Fairly short and light though.

Score: 5
Would I buy a bottle? Wouldn’t be upset with a bottle

Thoughts: It’s a nice balance with the oak and the botanicals.  Not too woody and not too overpowering from the botanicals.  I wish there was a little bit more on the finish as it kind of just falls off.
