Review #76 – Worthy Park Quatre Vins

Review #76 – Worthy Park Quatre Vins

Review #: 76
Description: Worthy Park Quatre Vins
Spirit: Rum

Background: Worthy Park collaborated with 1423 to release several cask finished rums. This one was distilled in 2013 and aged in ex-bourbon barrels in Jamaica for 4 years before sent to Denmark. There, the rum was split into ex- Monbazillac, ex-Sauternes, ex-Moscatel and ex-Jurancon casks for 2 years and then blended back together to be bottled. Let’s see how the wine works with the rum!

Distillery – Worthy Park

Bottler – 1423

Brand – Worthy Park

Selection – N/A

ABV – 52%

Age – 6 Years

Nose – Figs, nutmeg, gingerbread, caramel brittle, sour skittles
Taste – Caramel, plum, vanilla frosting, dark cherry, slight brown sugar
Finish – Cinnamon spice, ginger, some sour funk comes in, gingersnap cookie,  The longer it sits the more tropical fruits that come in.

Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Yes

Thoughts: This was an interesting rum but overall the wine influence was well balanced.  The fruit notes were rich but not overpowering.  A little funk does come in through the finish to remind you what you are drinking.  Pleasant and desserty, the cost is slightly high but the uniqueness of this I think makes it worth it.
