Review #445 – Rolling K (1990)

Review #: 445
Description: Rolling K (1990)
Spirit: Bourbon

Background: This is a bottle of Rolling K bourbon.  Produced at the Old Crow distillery, this was a brand that Beam acquired with National Distiller’s.  This bottle had a 90 date stamp so likely this is ND distillate.

Distillery – National Distillers

Bottler – Jim Beam

Brand – Rolling K

Selection – N/A

ABV – 40%

Age – NAS

Nose – Lots of fruit: cherry, red apple, gingerbread, tobacco, fresh cornbread
Taste – Vanilla, light caramel, milk chocolate, butter cookie
Finish – Licorice, anise, dark chocolate, cinnamon cream, tobacco, touch of char from the oak

Score: 6
Would I buy a bottle? Maybe auction prices for this aren’t super crazy since it’s an obscure brand? Who am I kidding though.

Thoughts: Interesting where the Anderson Club I just had I said shows how lots of dusties are oakier and more balanced in flavor, because this is definitely got that sweeter note. It has great mouth feel for 40%.  Not super complex but very tasty
