Review #: 262
Description: Dramfool 2011 Oloroso Mystery Speyside
Spirit: Scotch
Background: This whisky comes from an “Undisclosed, Mystery Speyside” aka Glenfarclas. It was distilled in 2011 and is (still) fully matured in an Oloroso Sherry cask. This is still in cask and is to be bottled fairly soon by Dramfool. It was intended to be the Spirit Of Speyside offering for this year but with the event being virtual, plans changed.
Reviews 259 – 264 were done as part of the Dramfool Spirit of Speyside tasting. This took place on Zoom, headed by Dramfool co-founder, Colin Fraser. There were about 15 active participants on the Zoom call giving notes and impressions while we tasted and the contents were revealed after some tasting and discussion. Notes are therefore a little brief.

Would I buy a bottle? Probably
Thoughts: This is just really solid and an excellent example of Oloroso Speyside malt. I think it’s a good representation for the festival, but nothing goes too crazy. The nose had some interesting notes that reminded me of rum, though some people found the plastic/rubber/glue note a bit off putting in the tasting. As a lover of rum, I was fine with it.
