Review #: 344
Description: Pursuit Series Episode 032
Spirit: Bourbon
Background: Another single barrel offering in the Pursuit Spirits catalog. Since we are wrapping up my “Dance With The Dickel” little series, you can probably guess that this is indeed from Cascade Hollow, and like the last 3, it has been aged for 15 years. I previously very much enjoyed the 15 year picks from PS back with Episodes 023 and 024, so when they announced this would be the last of the 15 year picks (at least for a while) I decided to plop down the $110 for it. Not long after, Dickel announced their bottlings so let’s see if it’s worth twice as much.
Distillery – Cascade Hollow
Bottler – Pursuit Spirits
Brand – Pursuit Series
Selection – N/A
ABV – 57.85%
Age – 15 Years
Nose – Fudgy oak, milk chocolate, stewed dark cherries, buttered popcorn, leather, snickers candy bar
Taste – Rich oak, buttered popcorn, dry leather, dark chocolate, very tart cherry
Finish – Dry but buttery, roasted corn, strong oak, almost like a hint of grapefruit on it
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Yes, but I would be on the lookout for the OB single barrels at this time
Thoughts: This was plenty delicious and I don’t regret buying it, even with the new product from the distillery. It definitely shows more of the oak but it is very tasty. It lacks the sweetness of the fudge and fruit from the 2 other 15 year ones I tried, but the oak is complex and integrated. I really don’t get any of the Dickel vitamin note from it. This is one of those pours when you just want one but will leave you satisfied when you are done.
