Review #407 – Ballantine’s Blended Scotch Whisky

Review #: 407
Description: Ballentine’s Blended Scotch Whisky
Spirit: Scotch

Background: A bottom shelf blend from the Pernod Ricard collection of Scotch distilleries including malt and grain.  Not much else of interest so time to taste.

Distillery – Various

Bottler – Ballentine’s

Brand – Ballentine’s

Selection – N/A

ABV – 40%

Age – NAS Years

Nose – Sour lemon, burnt coffee, wet wood, frosted flakes cereal, freshly lit charcoal
Taste – Pretty sweet and actually some texture to it, Caramel, vanilla cream, yogurt, lemon curd
Finish – More lemon, soft peat, toasted bread.  Finish is short and light though

Score: 4
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: Really not terrible.  Nothing super offensive about it and thought it actually felt like it had some texture despite the watered down nature of it.  Not complex, but not off putting.  It’s fine.
